‘Breathing in, breathing out…’ Erik mused to himself as he walked in the cold, yet pure white snow. He didn’t particularly enjoy winter, but the chill of it made him welcome at times. He put his hands in his pockets and continued walking into the vast courtyard.
The trees were all covered in snow and ice, although some droplets were seen to fall from time to time. The weather had been a bit warmer than usual lately which caused the sudden melting. He looked up at the blue sky. It didn’t have any clouds or any impurity form the distance.
“Come on, man, where are the clouds?” Erik said out loud and started laughing a bit, before sitting down on the nearby bench. “Damn, it’s cold,” he continued as he touched the surface next to him with his slim hands. “Oh well, who cares anyways?”
He closed his eyes slightly as the Sun became unbearable to look at. It was a sunny afternoon and Erik liked the night better for….several reasons.
He chuckled at his thoughts slightly and relaxed, even though the cold chilled him to the bones, at the same time waiting for someone to warm him up. Was no one in this forsaken place, honestly?

Kadie loved the snow. She'd actually gotten the nickname the Snow Queen. But that wasn't only because she loved the snow. No, it was partly because she held guys at arms length. Sure, she had fun with them here and there; and had even had a few flings. But no guy had been able to capture her attention longer then a couple of weeks really.
And that was because she was totally against falling again, at least for now. So, guys around here called her the Snow Queen, claiming that her heart was made of ice nowadays. A lot of guys even had bets going on to see which guy could be the one to tame her. None had been able to do so. In fact, the ones who tried to hard usually found themselves getting pushed into the pond by the school.
Still though, in spite of the fact that Kadie didn't want to like anyone, she did have her fun with the guys. She didn't sleep around a whole lot, so she wasn't known as a slut, but she'd slept with a couple of guys since her breakup with James.
She was walking around in the courtyard, just enjoying the snowy weather. She was wearing a tight light blue sweater, with her favorite tight blue jeans. She was wearing her hair down, but she had curled it that morning. She liked her hair best that way anyway. She wasn't wearing all that much makeup either. She never had been the type to cake on a whole ton. But she was a girl who could get away with it. She looked good with or without makeup.
She walked around with her hands in her pockets. She looked up to see a guy in the distance. Kadie was outgoing, and she liked to talk to people; so she wandered over. She stopped though and her eyes widened a bit. Erik. Wow, she hadn't seen him since their one-night stand awhile ago.
Kadie had had a lot of fun with Erik that night. But she hadn't been one of the girls to just throw herself at his feet. Kadie never did that. In fact, she didn't fall for guys at all. So all the girls who had been doing it that night, she'd been disgusted with. Maybe because she had been different from the other girls; she'd caught his eye. At any rate, they'd ended up sleeping together that night.
Kadie had ended up sneaking out when he'd been asleep. She always hated the whole awkwardness of waking up together or whatever, especially when it hadn't meant anything. Or had it? She'd enjoyed the experience certaintly. But she wasn't about to examine why she'd been catching herself thinking about him from time to time.
"Hey Erik. I'm surprised to see you out here," she said as she got over to him. She said this with a bright smile as she tilted her head and looked up at him.

Erik slowly opened his dark eyes. Looking up, they widened a bit when they saw Kadie. He tried to keep calm, but couldn't really, even though he was a master at this. 'Come on, chill man, she's just a girl,' he told himself and nodded approval, while clearing his throat, ready to talk. They had a one night stand long ago, a couple of months actually and since then he had been thinking of her at times, which totally freaked him out and scared the crap out of him. He was never that way with any girl, no matter how beautiful or slutty or even smart she was. He shook his head and got up to look at her. "Hey, Kadie, how's it going?" he added and pushed his hands deeper into the pockets of his brown leather jacket. His hair was messy as always and he didn't bother to shave or do anything else this morning, which was also unlike him. He had a scruffy, just woke up look to him and knew that most girls loved that about him, but didn't know how Kadie felt about it. "You go to Adelaide, huh? Never thought that!Such a coincidence" Erik said and looked in her eyes, then tried to avoid her piercing gaze by looking at the ground that was totally covered in snow.

Kadie tried to ignore the effect that Erik was having on her, just by standing close to her. She never allowed herself to examine any feelings. She had that barrier up around guys, even though she flirted and had fun with them; she never let them in very far. And she never let guys have this kind of effect on her. So why was this happening to her?
"It's going good. How have you been?" she asked him, not letting the awkwardness that she was feeling creep into her voice. That cool, calm and collected girl that she always was around guys was having a harder time of being that way.
And man, he looked so good. Kadie loved the whole scruffy rugged look on guys. Especially on Erik. She had this urge to just run her fingers through his hair and mess it up even more. But of course, she kept her hands in her pockets where they belonged.
She laughed a bit at his next comments.
"Yeah, I go here. I didn't know you went here too. How long have you been going here?" she asked. She noticed him looking at the snow, and she didn't mind. She felt things looking into his eyes that she wasn't so sure she wanted to feel. Still, it was really good to see him again.

Erik smiled and looked back at her, trying not to look at his shoes or the snow again; it seemed rather rude to do so. He ran a hand through his scruffy hair and looked at Kadie. The conversation between them seemed rather strained and awkward and he most certainly did not want it to be so. He sat back down and patted the seat besides him, trying to act cool. He needed to break the tension, so being more outgoing could help. "Not long actually," he replied. “I’ve just transferred here this year. I had some … trouble at my previous school, so I guess I just had to move. Better here from my point of view, don’t you think?” “So, how’s life treating you at this Academy? Any boys I need to look after?” he asked and gave a small wink before starting to laugh a bit.

She smiled as he patted the bench. She sat down beside him, feeling the tension break a little. As he answered her question, she nodded in agreement.
"Yeah, I like it here," she replied with a shrug. Though sometimes it got a little annoying. Just because she'd grown up here and gone to school with pretty much the same kids all her life. It wasn't too bad most of the time though. At least not anymore. Last year had been pretty bad, but she was past all that now. She laughed as he asked her if he had to look after any guys and gave her a small wink.
"Nope, not really. You'll find that I'm known around here as something of a challenge. Guys even have bets to see which one can tame me. But no, I'm not about to be tamed anytime soon," she said giving him a wink of her own.
"So, what about you? Are you already making your moves on half the women around here?" she asked with a slight teasing grin.

Erik laughed at their conversation, and tried to continue it, a bright smile dawning on his pale and flawless face. He was acting as outgoing as he could and he liked it.
They stopped being awkward and actually had fun as friends, but of course he would never think of her as a friend, he would always think more. He sighed, and looked down, yet gave a small chuckle.
“I’ve had my eyes on a couple of girls, and I’ll have fun of course, but yet I can’t seem to find the right one and even if I already found her,” he continued and made eye contact with Kadie, “maybe I’m to scared to do anything about it.”

At Erik's response and as he made eye contact with her, her heart started beating a little faster. She looked down for a moment and then looked up again and smiled slightly at him. But she was surprised. She never would have thought that Erik would be scared. But then, Kadie didn't exactly show that she would be scared either.
"Why would you be scared to do anything about it? What are you afraid of?" she asked curiously. But, she thought she understood. After all, she would be too scared to do anything about it too. Still, she wanted to know what his response would be. She was scared of commitment period. She flirted and had flings, but she never let anything last because of her fear. And she had to wonder if Erik's fear was slightly similar, or not. And she wondered if he'd even answer the question. If somebody asked her the same question, she might not be so keen on answering it.

Erik tried to seem relaxed, although he mentally slapped himself several times on what he had just divulged. He acted so foolishly stupid, he ruined everything. He sighed and put both his hands behind his head.
“Well, as you well know, I am not the best…boyfriend, one would say. I love girls and I love spending...time with them, but then I met someone and everything changed a bit. I think about her, not that much, but considerably a lot from my point of view. And sometimes I wonder if she even knows I exist. I am afraid of commitment, although at the same time I want it badly.
The thought scares me, especially since this is totally new and different to me!” he added and smiled, looking at Kadie, he brushed some strands of hair that were getting in her eyes, then immediately looked at the snow.

She listened to his response, and she nodded. Wow, she really understood what he meant. She took a slightly deep breath. She didn't normally divulge anything, but he just had to her.
"Yeah, I know what you mean. I run away from commitment. And I'm not exactly the best girlfriend either. In fact, I'm pretty much the one who screws up the relationship whenever I do get into one. So, I don't get into any relationships. I just flirt and have little flings here and there. But nothing has lasted longer then two weeks for me, simply because I don't let it," she said softly as she stared at the snow.
"So yeah. I know the feeling of being scared. I don't like to admit it, but hey," she looked back up at him.
"So, who is this girl? Do I know her?" she asked with a slight smile, though at the same time, she felt a jolt. Did she even want to know? She wanted to be his friend certainly, but she couldn't deny that the feelings that she thought she was having for him, were a little more then friendly.

Erik looked up at her once again and listened to her response. He felt the same way and he was happy she did as well. As for her question, a blush reached his cheeks. ‘What the heck is this?’ he said to himself as he felt his cheeks warming up.
‘I never blush.’ He wanted to swear, but didn’t of course, especially no tin the presence of a lady. “Um..I believe you know her more than anyone!” he added and tried to avoid her gaze.

As he blushed, Kadie was bewildered for a moment. But at his response, she understood. He meant her, obviously. And while a huge part of her was glad about that, she had no idea what to do about it. Kadie was one to speak her mind, but this? How could something with them even work? They were both scared of commitment.
"I've been thinking about you too," she said quietly as she continued to look at the snow. Her face reddened a bit. She didn't know why she had to go and admit to it, especially when a part of her still wanted to bolt from the feelings she was having. But, Kadie was an honest and outspoken person. When she had something to say, it normally didn't go unsaid. But still. She wasn't so sure she was ready for a relationship, at all. So admitting that she did have feelings for him was slightly dangerous ground. But she couldn't exactly help it at the same time.

Erik almost jumped as joy invaded his mind and body. Wow, she felt the same about him. This felt amazing. Most of the times, he did not even care how girls felt about him, he just wanted to get them in bed, but this was most definitely different.
“Really?” he said in a quiet tone, trying not to let his feelings show. He turned to look at her and raised up her chin to meet his eyes. “Well, I guess that will work to my advantage then,” Erik said and touched her lips with his. At first it felt great, but he stopped soon, before he realized what was happening.
He looked into her eyes awaiting for approval or some kind of response. Was this bad or was this great?

He raised her chin to meet his eyes, and she couldn't help but smile. And as she was about to respond, she forgot all about doing so when he leaned over and kissed her. It felt so good. He was then pulling back and looking into her eyes. This was slightly scary for her, but she knew that she wanted this. She really did.
Before she really knew what she was doing, she wrapped her arms loosely around his neck and she leaned forward a bit and placed her lips on his, kissing him.
She wasn't thinking about whether or not they could work at the moment. She might later. But, she found that she didn't want to run. A completely new feeling for her.

Erik was completely surprised by her reaction, but found himself enjoying the situation more than ever. This truly was a new feeling and he liked it … a lot. He smiled as she kissed him and wrapped his hands around her.
She was so warm and small. He had the urge to protect her. For a moment, he forgot about the cold weather, he forgot about everything. He didn’t know if this was bad or horrible, or if it even was good, but he didn’t stop. He closed his eyes and enjoyed the moment with all his might. His skin prickled and his face and body were on fire.
It was something he could not explain. Small snowflakes started coming down from the heavens above. It seemed like a faerie tale, too good to believe, too good to come true. He tried to pinch himself, but couldn’t. This was much better than a dream.
