Daunte walked slowly on the streets of lower Manhattan. He was bored out of his mind, as usual, and wanted to at least get some action. He put his hands in his pocket once again, feeling the cold penetrating his skin. He hated winter and couldn’t wait for it to pass, yet even more months of cold were waiting ahead of this period of the year. He sighed and kept walking, looking around with a sad gaze.
He had been suspended form Adelaide for at least 10 days, and now life had gotten even duller! Damn the headmistress, he thought most of the time, yet he couldn’t stop his thoughts about her. Something was hiding underneath all those fancy clothes and strict rules. Her life seemed so organized, it made Daunte’s head spin; that would surely never happen to him.
The park was finally seen in the distance! He took another deep breath and felt his lungs almost freeze. He coughed loudly and swore stridently, cursing the bloody weather.
As he reached the small paths of the famous park, he slowed down his steps admiring the beauty of it all. Even if it was as cold as if they were living in an icebox, he couldn’t deny the splendor of the frozen trees and the whole scenery winter had made herself.
He gave a small smile and sat down on a bench, taking his hands out of his pockets and rubbing them together, in order to make himself warm. He looked around and noticed a shadowed silhouette walking along the path, yet still too far away for him to spot who it was. A curious look dawned his face as he awaited for the mysterious person to get closer.
