The young-looking headmistress took her hair down from a bun. The wavy locks of hair fell around her shoulders. Walking over to her desk, she kicked her shoes off to the side. She sat, smoothing her knee-length skirt underneath her, and straightening out her black blouse.
Lauren opened up her filing cabinet. She had a lot of paperwork to do, of course. But not as much as usual which was good. She pulled out three new student folders and sat them in a neat pile on her desk. She sighed softly as she glanced at a new book she had bought the day before. It was going to be days before she could start it and probably months before she could finish it.
She shook her head but reminded herself that this was her job, and she knew exactly what she had gotten into when she applied for the position. Finally, she opened the first folder and began to look through the student's file. But she was startled by a knock on her door...

Daunte threw his head back, looking most definitely bored. He had just gotten a pretty unfair detention in Calculus. Honestly, the teachers had gotten older and more irritating as years passed. He didn’t particularly like to follow the rules, especially not school rules. He was still new and getting used to things, he would tell the teachers, but that line didn’t work so well after a while.
He sighed and looked around as he saw the math teacher come into the room. “Mr. Stone you are released,” he said in his monotone voice.
“Thank God,” Daunte whispered under his breath and then swore, hurrying out of the room. He needed to talk to the headmistress about this. It was unjust and he did want the math professor to be talked to from someone with more authority. He threw his backpack on his shoulder and hurried up the stairs, reaching a fancy looking door.
He shrugged and tilted his head to the side a bit, as for his hair to get out of his face. He loudly knocked and waited for someone to open the door, his expression bearing a uninterested look.

Lauren reached for the phone, irritated that the new student's old school didn't send the previous grades and behavioral records. After being put on hold for ten minutes, Lauren grew rather irritated. Finally, she was put on the phone with the administrator. She tried to be polite, but she knew she was being sort of rude when she asked him to ax the records to her. However, he was snappy right back. Seriously, people were just ridiculous these days. Lauren had better things to deal with.
She hung up the phone, nearly slamming it down on the receiver. She put her head in her hands and groaned. Today was a rough day.
Then, she heard a loud knock on her door. She lifted her head, and got up from her chair. Lauren glided to the door and opened it. "Mister Stone." She smiled slightly. "Come on in. Have a seat." She walked back into her rather large office and motioned to a seat in front of her desk. She resumed her seat behind it.
"What can I do for you?" Lauren reached into her filing cabinet just in case she needed his student file.

Daunte clicked his tongue as he entered the office. His vision was a bit blurry, taking in consideration that his hair was getting in his eyes once more.
His appearance was a bit well…scruffy you could say. He was wearing old worn off jeans that were pretty comfortable and a faded ACDC T-shirt. He did wear a small earring in his left ear, but left the piercing in the right one empty. His brown hair was messy and he had a particularly boyish look today.
He didn’t smile back, but looked around as the headmistress greeted him.
“Call me Daunte, not Mr. Stone. That formality just makes me sound old!” He added with certainty and sat down taking his surroundings in. His gaze settled on the woman before him, as he looked her up and down. He gave an approving nod, then shrugged, a more interesting expression settling on his face. She was looking pretty good for a woman her age. Different thoughts invaded his mind, but he motioned them off and returned his attention to their discussion.
“Nice place you got here…Anyways, back to the subject. As you can tell, I’m new here and these rules don’t particularly apply to me yet. The Calculus teacher just gave me a detention for being…um…rude or impolite and I completely missed my first Lacrosse practice at this school because of that, which pretty much sucks. So I want you to talk to him, because he owes me an apology for being unjust under those circumstances. And now…I rest my case,” Daunte finished with a satisfied smirk on his face and relaxed in the comfortable chair, waiting for her response.
His speech was a long one or at least he thought so. Most teachers were fooled by it the first time, but Headmistress Jameson didn’t seem like the kind of person who let you go off that easily, but maybe he was wrong…

“Call me Daunte, not Mr. Stone. That formality just makes me sound old!” Lauren cleared her throat. "Formality is called for in a student to headmistress ratio, Mister Stone." She put emphasis on the way she called him Mister Stone, again, despite his request. She averted her eyes away from him and pulled out a pad of yellow paper and a black pen.
Lauren raised an eyebrow at Daunte as he issued his complaint, but she took notes. She shook her head a few times. She dated the top of the paper after he finished speaking. Lauren stood and placed one hand on her desk, and the other on her hip. "Mister Stone, next time you will not be rude during class to your professor. You deserved the detention, I'm sure. I only hire the most elite staff."
She cleared her throat and raised a hand to indicate she wasn't finished. "It is your own fault you missed Lacrosse practice. Academics are priority, sports aren't." Lauren walked to her water cooler, and cup from the top of it, and drained some water into the cup. She took a sip and returned to her desk. Her hair swishing across her shoulders and back as she sat.
Lauren folder her hands on her desk. "Anything else I can assist you with?" She smiled slightly, just curling up the edges of her lips.

Daunte laughed dryly at her comments and leaned back in his seat. He clasped his hands together and stretched a bit, feeling a bit tired. He tried to suppress a long yawn, but couldn’t.
“Of course, I thought you wouldn’t fall for my speech. And I’ll try my best to keep my Academics in check, but I should let you know this. I never put school before fun! Especially in this place, I would probably die of boredom, if it wasn’t for my friends and breaking the rules!” He ran a hand through his hair as she got up and drank some water. Looking at her as she turned around, an eyebrow was raised. She was keeping really good for her age. He gave a small snicker behind her back as she returned, then tried to act normal, although you couldn’t call his behavior exactly normal.
“ So, I don’t know if I have anything else to say, except if you have a long speech in for me ad my behavioral aspects, as most headmasters do,” he added and frowned thinking of all those boring talks he had to endure; they weren’t exactly pleasurable.
“But I have to say, I don’t want to go yet, considering I just missed my Lacrosse practice and I have nothing to do. I can’t exactly show up there at the end of practice!”

Lauren shook her head and looked down at her hands. He was insulting her establishment. Her school. Her life. Boring? She thought not. She spent millions refurbishing the grounds. The stadium? The pools? All money out of her own pocket. Lauren wouldn't tell him this though. She looked sternly back at him, wondering what kind of man he would grow into. Strikingly good looking, of course. But, what would he make of himself?
Clearly, he needed some guidance. And who better to give him guidance than his headmistress? Lauren could turn this young boy around. Get him on the right path. All it took was a little push.
"I am certain you've heard enough behavioral speeches, Mister Stone. It would be a shame for me to waste my breath on you." She smirked sourly at him. In truth, her attitude was always this cold. She had to deal with adolescents all day, how did you expect her be?
Lauren shrugged slightly. "If you wish. My door is always open." That was certainly a rehearsed line. All headmistresses had to say that. Yet .. there was one question. "But why, Mister Stone, would you wish to stay with a bitter old woman? I am certainly not anymore exciting than this school, I assure you." She leaned back into her chair, crossed her legs, and peered across her desk at him.

Daunte laughed and leaned back in his chair, trying to relax, yet barely keeping his eyes open. He tried to act like a rebel, like he usually did, but he did think that the headmistress sometimes saw through his entire fumble disguise.
“ I, my dear headmistress, do not find you bitter nor old,” he added with a small smirk and looked at her desk. It seemed to be rather organized and he hated that. This woman seemed to control every aspect in her life; she needed to be carefree and forget, and then just…live; she needed excitement.
He did know what she thought of him though. A nice young man, wasting his life away, acting like a notorious little boy, that didn’t want to grow up. Most adults did think that of him and he had gotten used to it after a while.
He sighed and returned to their conversation, “And well, I just want to sit in this chair and listen to you talk, and I really want you to talk…normally. Talk to me like you mean it, not with the cold tone you usually address most students. I hate fakeness, and we wouldn’t an adult role model to act fake, now would we?” he threatened and raised his eyebrows, while his first small smile settled on his full lips. He didn’t break eye contact and waited for her response.

Lauren shook her head. She was positive that this boy was not her therapist. Yet, he acted as if he were superior to her. "If I addressed students in a casual and care-free tone, this school would be chaotic, Mister Stone." She was getting slightly angry, now. Even more so than she was before. Lauren and that particular emotion didn't mix too well together. Especially with a student whom was acting out towards her. "Though, I wouldn't expect you to know anything about that. According to your file, you are unemployed. What responsibility do you have, Mister Stone? None, I suspect." She raised an eyebrow, looking stern.
She laughed. "Fake? I assure you, Mister Stone, you are about one more smart remark away from getting detention. And your calculus teacher certainly will not be overseeing it. I will. And you will be doing more than sitting in a chair staring at the desk."
"So, I suggest you don't point fingers at me any longer." And why am I not kicking this unruly boy out of my office, Lauren thought.

Daunte laughed a bit as he saw the headmistress get a bit angry. Yes…he did have that effect on most people. His rebellious nature got him in trouble a lot and also his smart mouth said things that were categorized as rude and inappropriate. But he was sincere and that was the thing he loved about himself; his sincerity.
“It truly is fun to see you get mad, my dear headmistress,” he added with another chuckle and put his feet on her desk, leaning even farther in his chair.
“And I really don’t care about getting a job or anything else in the near future. I have college ahead of me, and I’m sure everything is paid for ahead of time.
” And as for pointing fingers, I’m not saying anything about your ability to lead or discuss things, but I am merely saying that you should relax at times and act younger. This position and behavior makes you act like an old hag, if I might add,” he said with a sincere tone, “But I have to admit, when you get mad it makes you look fiery and young, and I absolutely…love…that,” Daunte added slowly with a wicked smile on his lips.

Lauren raised her eyebrow when Daunte put his feet on her desk. She just about threw up today's lunch. "I ask you kindly, Mister Stone, to remove your feet from my desk." It's absolutely disgusting," Lauren wanted to add. And plus, I just cleaned my desk before he arrived. Lauren stood. He just about pushed her last button. One more remark, and he was out ..
And then he made a whole speech at how miserable and old she looked when she talked sternly. "Mister Stone, I warned you not to talk to me in such manner." She leaned over and grabbed a piece of paper from a stack across her desk. "You are suspended, Mister Stone, for insubordination, and just plain respectfulnesses to your authority. It seems as if I made a very wrong choice in allowing you to come to Adelaide. I will see you in ten days." She finished writing on the slip of paper, tore off the main copy and put it in his file, and gave him the secondary copy.
"If you keep this up, Daunte, colleges surely won't accept you if you get expelled, no matter how much money you have." Lauren walked briskly across her office and opened the door for him. She smiled. "Have a good vacation. Lucas," She said, talking to a large bulky man standing outside of her office, "bring this young man to his dorm room. He will have fifteen minutes to pack up his belongings. Then, if you would, please escort him off the premises. A cab will be waiting outside of the gate to take him home, or to the airport."

Daunte shook his head slowly, his gaze still resting upon the headmistress. He was used to all this, he was always used to all this!
“You may suspend me, Lauren, but trust me, that will not help my behavior. I’ve been suspended and kicked out of many schools and I would guess I am on my way to get kicked out of this one as well. But adults never learn that kicking me out won’t solve their problems or won’t change my character! This is who I am, and I became what I am now and what I’m always going to be through hard methods and lived a harsher life than any of you! So do not criticize my acting, when you don’t know me,” he added in a low tone, a bit of anger echoing in his voice, “ I just like telling the truth and if you don’t like it, then well…too bad!”
He got up and walked slowly out of the room, a bit of regret showing in his dark eyes. Maybe this school was like all the others, maybe the people were the same; maybe…he had come to the wrong place. He was mistaken for thinking that anyone would understand him.
He shook his head once again and turned slowly, “ And tell your…killing machine/body guard, I’ll lead myself out and I don’t need a cab, I’ll simply walk. I’ll be sure to stay in the area though,” Daunte stated in a bitter voice and stopped to look at her for one last time. “And I thought you were unlike the others!”
